Art, according to Britannica, is described as ‘something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings’.
Culinary Arts is the art of cooking. Chefs put in their skill, effort and imagination into creating a piece of art that is meant to be appetizing. We all judge food by the way it looks, how it is presented, how it smells and of course, how it tastes, and in some cases what after-taste it leaves.
All of these senses play an important role in how much we enjoy the experience whether it is at home or at a restaurant. Human being’s sensory stimuli are all working simultaneously towards the food presented to you. In order for the food to satisfy all your senses positively, it is the hard work and creativity of the chef behind the dish. The chef puts his/her heart and soul into a dish that is presented to us. For them a plain canvas is painted with ingredients to bring together a masterpiece for us to devour.
As human beings evolve, cooking is no longer considered a means of survival; it is a form of self-expression. Culinary Arts can be classified into three stages; inspiration, creativity and presentation. First one needs to be inspired, to imagine the final product, and to have a passion for what is being created.
